In 1999 our Children's Department adopted the "Operation Christmas Child" shoebox project for Christmas.  In conjunction with the Samaritan's Purse organization, over 150 shoeboxes, stuffed with Bibles, gifts and personal items, were shipped to children in such war torn and impoverished countries as Bosnia, Croatia, Romania, Russia, Kenya, Jordan and Thailand.

Our Young Adult and Youth classes entered a float in Lexington's 1999 Christmas parade duly named "On The Road To Bethlehem" to serve as a city-wide invitation to Drive Thru "Bethlehem Revisited."

Our first annual Drive-Through "Bethlehem Revisited" in 1999 attracted over 900 guests to an outdoor recreation of the first Christmas and underscored the true meaning of the season.
